Knowledge-sharing platform: is the knowledge-sharing platform of the TDR-IDRC Research Initiative Population health vulnerabilites to vector-borne diseases: increasing resilience under climate change conditions in Africa.

The TDR-IDRC Research Initiative is being implemented by WHO-TDR in collaboration with IDRC, the WHO Public Health and Environment (PHE) Department and the AFRO Programme for the Protection of Human Environment (PHE).  The research initiative provides a holistic research perspective to elucidate how environmental and socio-economic change affects transmission dynamics and disease burden of vector-borne diseases through changes in vector ecology, human ecology, social organization, demography and health systems.

Implementation of this research initiative is through five research projects in Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Botswana, Mauritania and Zimbabwe that are focused on major vector-borne diseases (malaria, schistosomiasis, human African trypanosomiasis and Rift Valley fever).
